♻️The Great American Cleanup CITO♻️ Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

RDrayerIII: I am archiving this CITO event to clear the map. If you have not logged your find, you can still do so.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We had 10 attendees and removed 7 bags of trash. A huge pile of tires was retrieved from the woodsline. This was a successful first Adopt-a-Boat Ramp cleanup.

The Great American Cleanup is a community improvement program that takes place every Spring in thousands of communities nationwide and engages more than 300,000 volunteers.

———————————————

This CITO event will take place in conjunction with the Adopt-a-Boat Ramp program managed by Keep Aiken County Beautiful. I have adopted the Davis Bridge Boat Landing. I am inviting all interested geocachers to help with the effort!

The Details:

Here are a few basic guidelines that must be followed per Keep Aiken County Beautiful:

  • All participants must wear a safety vest if working near the road.
  • All participants must wear work gloves for protection.
  • Work only during daylight hours (this will not be a problem).
  • Do not conduct litter cleanup during extreme weather or a declared state of emergency (I will announce any cancellation due to such circumstances).
  • It is recommended that participants wear sunscreen and insect repellent as necessary.
  • Avoid clean-ups during peak ramp usage times.
  • Wear substantial footwear. Shoes or boots that are thick-soled and close-toed are preferable.
  • Do not overexert yourself.
  • Do not allow yourself to be distracted by or distract other volunteers.
  • Do not volunteer under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
  • Do not use power tools.
  • Do not pick up hazardous waste materials such as gas cans, car batteries, oil cans, antifreeze containers, needles and syringes, chemical containers, dead animals; and unidentifiable, dented, or leaking containers.

What's included:

  • Bottled water
  • Trash bags
  • Safety vests
  • Gloves
  • Trash pickers
  • First Aid kit
  • Hand sanitizer
