Geocache Description:

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant Pi (π) and is observed on the 3rd month/14th day since 3, 1 and 4 are the first three significant figures of Pi (π = 3.14).  Pi is defined as the ratio of a circles circumference to its diameter and it's one of the most extremely useful and fundamental quantities for so many real-life applications including math, science, engineering, and even GEOCACHING!!

In GPS systems, Pi is primarily used in complex mathematical calculations for determining a devices precise location by calculating the distance to satellites, which often relies on spherical trigonometry, where the constant value of Pi is crucial for accurately calculating angles and distances on a curved Earth surface.  So, essentially, anytime a circular or spherical calculation is needed within the GPS system, Pi is utilized to ensure accurate positioning.

This cache is placed to celebrate and recognize Pi and its application to geocaching.  ALTHOUGH THIS CACHE IS LOCATED AT THE POSTED COORDINATES, you MUST meet the following requirements to claim the smiley.  The requirements of this challenge cache are related to π = 3.14 as follows:

Since becoming a geocaching member, you have found (excluding Adventure Labs):

  1. A cache on March 14th to coincide with Pi Day (3.14)
  2. A cache on 3 consecutive days (3 day streak)
  3. A cache that has at least 14 favorite points (14 green hearts)

NOTEIf you find the cache but do not meet the requirements outlined above, then please DO NOT log a find.  Instead, log a "write note" and claim the find when you do meet the requirments.  Find logs that do not meet the requirements will be deleted so please use the challenge checker below to see if you meet the requirements:
