Geocache Description:

What is a peat bog?

A peat bog is a particular wetland where water inputs (rain, spring, etc.) are always greater than losses.

The resulting permanent waterlogging explains the presence of peat.

Located on the edge of the Senonches national forest, in the commune of Manou and within the perimeter of the Perche Regional Natural Park, La Tourbière des Froux is a great ecological treasure.

On the edge of the Senonches national forest, the Biquet valley cuts into a subsoil of clay, flint and sand. The rainy climate brings abundant water and favors luxuriant vegetation whose slow decomposition is at the origin of the Froux Tourbière, one of the most beautiful in the region. An acidic marsh favoring the accumulation of peat resulting from the decomposition of sphagnum moss, it is a living environment preserved by the Perche Regional Natural Park, the commune of Manou, the National Forestry Office and the Conservatory of Natural Spaces of the Center region. Thanks to a route laid out on a wooden pontoon which makes the visit very pleasant, this natural site reserves, as long as the walker lingers there, very beautiful observations.

To validate this cache you will need to answer these questions:

1) What is the dominant color of this peat?

2) Geologically, what are peat called?

3) What power does dry peat have?

4) What is the percentage of water in the peat?

5) A photo is requested on the pontoon.

For validation to comply with the rules: visitors log in "Found it", without waiting for permission from the installer and they must have the choice of transmitting their answers: either by email or via the geocaching.com messaging system.
