Geocache Description:

The Enola Low Grade Trail is open DAWN to DUSK only.

There is no need to go near the train tracks, through any fence, or under or inside any building or equipment to find this.

This camo-ed juice box is nestled in the large rocks in front of the restored railroad buidling. Please be stealthy; maybe go inside the building to sign. Please replace the container securely so that it doesn't slide down the hill. The hiding spot is not steep, but the last few feet are not stroller friendly.

I'd be aware of snakes in warm weather, but this location is far enough from vegetation that I don't think a reasonable snake would want to be there.

Note that Google Maps suggests an absolutely wrong approach to this cache. See picture for humorously wrong approach. You cannot get to the base of the wind turbines unless you are on an authorized tour. And you would need to hike the trail down from the turbines rather than dangerously tumble from the top. The hill is steep. That's why they put the turbines there. Good wind.

Enjoy sweeping views of the Susquehanna River along the almost 6 mile Manor Township section of the Enola Low Grade Trail. It begins at the base of Turkey Hill and ends past the restored Safe Harbor Trestle Bridge. The ELGT then continues for at least another 20 miles. This part of the trail is 12 feet wide compressed stone with elevated observation decks, natural waterfalls, a restored caboose, picnic tables, benches, and restrooms along the way. This section follows an abandoned right of way of the Enola Low Grade Railroad, one of several branch lines of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

The first LOST on the ELGT geocaches along this trail were created in 2013 by members of L.O.S.T. (Lancaster Organization for Seeking Tupperware). The caches are distinct hides hidden and maintained by individuals. They are not interchangeable hides and containers. You can find more information about our group and events on our Facebook page (L.O.S.T Geocachers in South Central PA) or our geocaching profile L.O.S.T.
