Kastner Survivors' Garden
The garden commemorates the rescue of thousands of Jews during the Holocaust,
By Dr. Israel Kastner (1906-1957) - one of the greatest rescue activists in the Holocaust. A Zionist public figure who worked with his friends in the "Zionist Aid and Rescue Committee" in Budapest from 1942-1945, to save many Jews: by assisting the youth underground, by hiding Jewish refugees, by forging documents and smuggling them across the border, as well as on the "Kastner Train", among the forced laborers in Strasshof and by saving thousands of survivors in the concentration camps.
He immigrated to Israel with his wife and daughter in 1947.
After a libel trial in which he was portrayed as a traitor, and before his name was cleared by the Supreme Court,
he was murdered by Jewish assassins
and died on March 15, 1957
