Cache Ba$h 2025
The Eisenbahn State Trail is a scenic, multi-use recreational trail, stretching approximately 25 miles through Washington and Fond du Lac counties. Built on a former railway corridor, the trail's name—"Eisenbahn"—is the German word for "railroad," reflecting the region's rich German heritage. The trail runs from the city of West Bend north to Eden, passing through rural landscapes, woodlands, farmland, and small communities. With relatively flat surfaces, both paved and crushed limestone, it accommodates a variety of outdoor activities, including walking, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and of course - geocaching.
One of the trail’s highlights is its passage through the beautiful Kettle Moraine region, formed by glaciers thousands of years ago, which provides a varied and scenic backdrop. The Eisenbahn State Trail connects several parks and natural areas, offering opportunities for birdwatching, photography, and peaceful nature walks. It’s also a valuable part of the local communities, promoting outdoor recreation and tourism while preserving a slice of the region's transportation history. Since its official opening in 2006, the Eisenbahn State Trail has been a destination for both locals and visitors seeking a tranquil yet engaging outdoor experience.
