According to Google’s dictionary, one definition of ‘wormhole’ is: a hypothetical connection between widely separated regions of space-time.
As a child, I hadn’t heard of ‘wormholes’, but I was determined that whenever we went to the beach, I was going to dig a hole (with my little shovel) to the other side of the world. I never made it any farther than a foot or two before the ocean would start to fill in my hole.
Any Trekkie is familiar with wormholes, especially fans of Deep Space Nine. It was space outpost, deep in the Alpha Quadrant, near a wormhole leading to the Gamma Quadrant. Watching several seasons of the show really piqued fans imaginations about the possibilities of wormholes. I’m sure some were convinced they are out there. Others, not so much.
