To celebrate my 50th CITO event Janet would like to go back to Hickory Island and dig up some ironwood trees for transplanting. We may also dig up some garlic mustard if there is time. Meet at the parking lot at the end of Jidana Road. We may have to paddle out to our work area, depending on the water level, so bring a personal flotation device. There will be a couple canoes available, but feel free to bring your own boat if you want. Join some fellow geocachers in working on this island. Bring work gloves and knee pads. Wear waterproof boots as we will have to canoe to the island and your feet could get wet getting into/out of the canoes. Limited tools and some snacks will be provided by the City of Minnetonka. All volunteers are required to sign a release form before participating. Janet Van Sloun will be our host. She is a very knowlegable employee of the City of Minnetonka and does a great job educating the volunteers on various plants and weeds that we encounter. She strongly believes in making it an enjoyable time for the volunteers and she is always extremely appreciative of the time that we give to make the parks more beautiful. Please log early so she has a good idea of how many tools and snacks to bring.
