La cache fa parte della serie Produzioni ininterrotte, progetto di valorizzazione della memoria del lavoro che vi porterà ad immaginare storie del territorio bergamasco ormai scomparse (o quasi) che hanno lasciato delle tracce nascoste.
Qual è il colmo per un paese che molto probabilmente deve le origini del proprio nome alla parola “Aridus”, ovvero “secco, arido, asciutto”?
Sorgere accanto a un fiume e ospitare una delle più importanti centrali idroelettriche di tutta la sua valle.
Stiamo parlando di Ardesio, luogo dove si colloca la centrale idroelettrica di Ludrigno (in origine chiamata Frua).
Attualmente è denominata Centrale idroelettrica di Ludrigno ed è proprietà di Enel Green Power, che nel 2007 ha completamente rinnovato e automatizzato l’impianto, che produce energia pulita per circa 30000 famiglie all’anno.
La costruzione di questa centrale risale al 1922, quando l’imprenditore milanese Giuseppe Frua, proprietario della storica fabbrica tessile di filatura del cotone Manifattura di Legnano, la fece costruire per fornire energia a uno dei suoi stabilimenti della bergamasca: lo stabilimento tessile del Cotonificio Bergamasco di Ponte Nossa.
Successivamente venne realizzato il secondo edificio per fornire energia all’abitato di Ardesio.
Ammirate dunque questo spaccato di storia e immaginate tutte le persone che devono tanto a questa centrale: chi usufruisce dell’energia da essa prodotta oggi, ma anche tutti gli operai e le operaie che nei primi decenni del ‘900 lavoravano più a valle nel cotonificio di Giuseppe Frua, che istituì tante opere assistenziali per loro e che, come molti imprenditori dell’epoca, si occupò personalmente dell’approvvigionamento di energia per i suoi stabilimenti, lasciandoci a memoria di quei tempi anche un’energia pulita, come le acque di queste montagne da cui ha origine.

Fun fact: This city has a name whose origin is the word "Aridus", which means “dry”, but it rises next to a river and hosts one of the most important hydroelectric plants in its entire valley.
We are talking about Ardesio, the place where the Ludrigno hydroelectric power plant (originally called Frua) is located.
It is currently called the Ludrigno hydroelectric power plant and is owned by Enel Green Power, which in 2007 completely renovated and automated the plant that produces clean energy for around 30,000 families per year.

Frua’s work and actions leave us a memory of those times with clean energy, like the waters of these mountains from which it originates.
