Join us Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM for a CITO like you've never seen before! We will join forces with Parks Tacoma and Tacoma Underwater Sports for a cleanup, beneath Les Davis Pier!

Everyone is welcome to attend regardless of your ability to breathe underwater. There will be opportunities to help out in one of three areas. In your Will Attend log, please let us know how you would like to help out:
- Scuba divers with current Advanced Open Water certification, a dive buddy, and at least two cutting tools will be tasked with helping clean up the sea floor near and beneath the pier. The divemaster will organize this, and they will have the final say in all matters regarding diving.
- Kayakers and Canoers will retrieve the trash collected by the divers and ferry it to the shore. The dive shop will organize all boating activities to ensure the safety of the divers and boaters.
- Pedestrians will help move trash from the boats to shore or can participate in a customary trash cleanup CITO along the shoreline. The parks and shoreline extend for 1.25 miles in either direction from the pier, so there will be plenty for everyone to pick up.
The parks department will provide the necessary trash bags for cleanup and removal after the event. For the safety of the divers, Las Davis will be closed to fishing during the event. So, bring your gloves and trash pickers, but leave your fishing pole and crab pots at home!
Special instructions:
- Please park at one of the designated parking areas away from the event proper, unless you have a physical disability. Scuba gear is bulky and heavy, so we need to reserve the immediate parking spaces for divers.
- Do not attempt to arrive early. The Tacoma St. Paddy's Day Run will take place on the morning of March 15th. The course runs the entire length of Ruston Way, which will be closed until at least 11 AM. Of course, this does not apply if you're a runner and want to run to the event. Just don't expect anyone else to be there until noon!
- If you are interested in participating as a scuba diver, please message us directly, and we will connect you with the divemaster for vetting.
- If you want to bring a kayak or canoe, know there is no easy water access along Ruston Way. You must carry your craft down over the riprap to launch.
