Outsider Art, equivalentemente alla versione francese Art Brut, definisce un'arte creata al di fuori dei dettami dei circuiti istituzionalizzati dell’arte. L'Artista Outsider è completamente autodidatta, non crea per un pubblico, ma solo per se stesso, non segue modelli, ricerca da sé le proprie originali tecniche, inventa le proprie regole, il proprio vocabolario e i propri materiali. Spesso vive ed opera ai margini della società, scegliendo volontariamente l'isolamento.

WHAT IS OUTSIDER ART? Outsider Art, equivalent to the French version Art Brut, defines art created outside the dictates of official and institutionalized art. We are talking about architectures, paintings, sculptures or assemblages, usually made as part or inside the home and properties of the outsider artist.
Outsider artists as Filippo Bentivegna, are often completely self-taught, they don’t create for a public, but only for themselves and they don’t follow any model, finding them own original techniques, they have no aim outside their own expressive need. They often live and work on the margin of society, voluntarily choosing isolation.
