Suzhou Creek (苏州河, or Soochow Creek), aka Wusong River, is a river that passes through the Shanghai city center. It is named after the neighboring city of Suzhou (Soochow). One of the principal outlets of Lake Tai, the Suzhou Creek is 125km long and flows into the Huangpu River at the Bund. The Suzhou Creek Waterfront Public Space (苏州河滨水公共空间) project was basically completed by the end of 2020. After renovation, the 42km shoreline along the Suzhou Creek in the central urban area has been opened to the public, providing space for public activities such as sightseeing, cultural communication, sports and fitness, leisure and entertainment.
Qiangjiajiao Bridge (强家角桥) is located at the junction of Changning District and Putuo District. It is the fourth pedestrian bridge on Suzhou Creek and was built in 1997. There are two approaches, one long and one short, at each end of the bridge, suitable for non-motor vehicles and pedestrians respectively. The appearance of Qiangjiajiao Bridge replaced the Qiangjiajiao Ferry, which had a history of over 100 years, marking the end of the ferry era on Suzhou Creek.
The GZ is at the south end of Qiangjiajiao Bridge. The cache (a 5cm tube) is placed under the long approach of the bridge.
