Join us for a March Equinox celebration at the Dairy Queen in Jamestown, North Dakota on Friday, March 21st from 5:00PM until 5:30PM. While the official duration for the event is 30 minutes, we will stay longer if people wish to stay and visit.
The March equinox, aka the vernal equinox, marks the sun’s crossing above Earth’s equator, moving from south to north. Earth’s tilt on its axis is what causes this northward shift of the sun’s path across our sky at this time of year. Earth’s tilt is now bringing spring and summer to the Northern Hemisphere. At the same time, the March equinox marks the beginning of autumn and a shift toward winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
There is a March Equinox Souvenir listed as being available between March 20th and 23rd, but the details to earn the souvenir haven't been released at the time this cache was submitted. Based on the past history of equinox souvenirs, it is assumed that people attending an event will count towards earning the souvenir, but there is no guarantee until the specifics are published on the geocaching.com blog.
Update: A new geocaching.com blog was published on March 3rd stating that attending an event, finding one geocache, or an adventure lab location does count towards earning the March Equinox Souvenir.
All attendees are responsible for paying for their own food and drinks.
