ENGLISH

Giverny was accessible by train from 15 July 1869, the date of the inauguration of the Gisors – Gasny – Giverny – Vernonnet section.

When Monet arrived in Giverny, he could therefore very easily go to Paris, Rouen and Dieppe, which he did not fail to do throughout his stay in the village. The decline of the Gisors-Pacy railway line began a few years after the painter's death. The section to Pacy was closed to passenger traffic in 1939, and it was no longer possible to take the train at Giverny station from 1 March 1940.

The track was dismantled in 1970. It will become a cycle path a few years later.

The station at Giverny still stands today and is used as a village hall.
