From here you can see the southern most part of an old sawmill property, this used to be an enormous sprawling saw milling complex covering all the way to the Nelson Enviroment Centre (the dump) however over time with cutbacks, a reduction in local need for sawmilling, processing becoming cheaper in markets overseas and technological advances the need for such a large amount of land to achieve the processing, the operational facility has shrunk to a much smaller block now.
