DE: Da wir unseren Stammtisch heute nicht in der Heimat abhalten können, machen wir es hier in Prag, ganz im Zeichen der Geocaching Gemeinde. Es gibt immer einen Grund zum Feiern, heute ist es "Der internationale Blue Switch Day"
Dieses Event ist für Alle - ob nun alte Hasen, Neulinge, Hinzugezogene, Einheimische, Durchreisende, Sissicacher, Statistikcacher usw. - die Lust darauf haben sich bei Essen und Ambiente über unser gemeinsames Hobby auszutauschen.
Aus dem Listing der "kuriosen Feiertage" zietiere ich dazu:
Für alle Geocacher und Geocacherinnen unter Euch ist der 2. Mai ein historisch relevantes Datum. Denn als sogenannter Blue Switch Day (selten auch: Big Blue Switch Day) erinnert dieser Anlass an die Abschaltung der künstlichen Verschlechterung des GPS-Signals am 2. Mai 2000. Erst durch diese Aufhebung wurde die GPS-Technik auch für zivile Zwecke praktisch nutzbar. Dazu zählt auch das Geocaching. Grund genug, die Geschichte dieses Gedenktages auch im Kalender der kuriosen Feiertage aus aller Welt zu erzählen.
Das war mir garnicht so bewußt. In diesem Sinne treffen wir uns auf ein Bier und unterhalten uns über ... Alles!

This event is for everyone - whether old hands, newbies, newcomers, locals, travelers, sissicachers, stat cachers, etc. - who want to talk about our common hobby while enjoying the food and ambience.
I quote from the list of “curious holidays”:
For all geocachers among you, May 2 is a historically relevant date. As the so-called Blue Switch Day (rarely also known as Big Blue Switch Day), this event commemorates the deactivation of the artificial degradation of the GPS signal on May 2, 2000. It was only after this deactivation that GPS technology became practically usable for civilian purposes. This also includes geocaching. Reason enough to tell the story of this memorial day in the calendar of curious holidays from around the world.
I wasn't even aware of that. With this in mind, we meet up for a beer and talk about ... Everything!
