One of the last major battles of the NZ Maori Wars took place in this area when Government forces along with their Maori allies engaged with Te Kooti and his warriors. The battle ended in Te Kooti's defeat, although he managed to get away with only a gunshot wound to his finger.
To find this geocache, you should park at the published coordinates and then you will need the 6 digit numbers (white numbers on green) from the 2 waypoints in order to calculate the final coordinates.
To calculate the final coordinates:
AAA = WP2 - WP1
S39 02.XXX where XXX = published coords + (AAA x 5)
E175 35.YYY where YYY = published coords - (AAA x 8)
