Düke Dolefül’s Festung Zwei
Attention: Do NOT move any of the large objects in this area. If searchers damage the hide location again, this geocache will be removed and archived. See 3/31/25 owner maintenance note.
There are lots of disgarded objects in this area so search with caution.
Düke Dolefül* may have a noble title but, in truth, he is chronically impecunious and has no vassels or even servants. He is lord of himself alone.
However, the Düke is absurdly self-confident and believes he is destined to rule over the entire Nashoba Valley. To the end, he has seized another discarded obsolete appliance and dubbed it Festung Zwei! Because he has no castellans, knights or men at arms to garrison the Festung, the Düke has put a small wooden geocache container in charge. The geocache isn't particularly keen on this new job but it beats being stashed in a swamp.
So go check out Düke Dolefül’s Festung Zwei, it's really…something. Also, please consider leaving a tribute. Your material gesture of subservience will make the Düke feel lordly and he could really use the money.

*More background on the Düke from The Iron Fortress of Düke Dolefül: From his mighty Iron Fortress, Düke Dolefül lords over all he surveys! That’s the image the Düke tries to present but in truth he is locked in a fierce struggle with Sir Geoffrey De Cache and Egg McCrusty for control of the Duchy of Dolefül Pond. The very name of this liquid terrain feature and its environs is a matter of bitter contention. Sir Geoffrey styles himself the Emperor of Lake Sorrow whereas Egg has declared himself Secretary General Supreme of the Liberation Pond Anti-Feudalist Geocache Collective. Even the habitually aloof Rock Lobster entered the fray when the Düke, Egg, and Sir Geoffrey all refused to declare The B-52's Rock Lobster the best dance song in the history of human civilization.
And thus began The Battle of Doleful Pond...
