* NOTE *
06/30/16 - This location has been bulldozed to make room for a new Elementary School. Hopefully there are plans included in the construction for a new memorial to our "Forgotten Hero" as well. To claim your find, please take a photo of the construction site at the coordinates and post it here. If you are interested in the facts and history of this location, please send us an email and we will gladly provide all information that was contained on the plaques. Thanks!!
Here is another page in the history of the Las Vegas Valley. The coordinates will take you to a small park area. There is a lonely flagpole where no flag flies and 2 markers that are unkempt and fading. This is a tribute to a real hero who should never be forgotten.
In order to log this cache, please email us the name of the hero and lets keep his memory alive.
***01/31/05***UPDATE...North Las Vegas has finished the renovations to the monument and they have replaced the memorial stone and flag pole. They have even installed in-ground lighting to keep our hero's flag illuminated and flying 24 hours a day. Many thanks to the wonderful, caring cachers who helped bring much needed attention to this site.
***11/20/05***UPDATE...Unfortunately, The City of North Las Vegas has found it necessity to keep the gates on this side of the park locked during school hours and sometimes they don't get unlocked at all. Access is still possible from the front entrance to the school rather than the side gates closest to the memorial.
12/15/2014 - The plaques have been removed (hopefully for renovation and restoration) so until they are replaced, please post a photo of the location (if the gates are locked you may claim the find by taking a picture through the fence). Also, if you are interested in the facts and history of this location, please send us an email and we will gladly provide all information that was contained on the plaques. Thanks!!
