Suzhou Creek (苏州河, or Soochow Creek), aka Wusong River, is a river that passes through the Shanghai city center. It is named after the neighboring city of Suzhou (Soochow). One of the principal outlets of Lake Tai, the Suzhou Creek is 125km long and flows into the Huangpu River at the Bund. The Suzhou Creek Waterfront Public Space (苏州河滨水公共空间) project was basically completed by the end of 2020. After renovation, the 42km shoreline along the Suzhou Creek in the central urban area has been opened to the public, providing space for public activities such as sightseeing, cultural communication, sports and fitness, leisure and entertainment.
Zhongshan West Road Bridge (中山西路桥) is a historic bridge in Shanghai, spanning the Suzhou Creek. Originally built in 1930 as a wooden bridge, it has undergone several reconstructions due to wars and urban development. The current bridge, completed in 1994, consists of three parallel structures: an inner ring viaduct in the middle and two ground-level roads on either side. The bridge is a vital transportation link, connecting Zhongshan West Road in Changning District with Zhongshan North Road in Putuo District. Its evolution reflects Shanghai's growth and transformation over the decades.

The GZ is under the North side of Zhongshan West Road Bridge. The magnetic cache (a 5cm tube) is attached under the green bench under the bridge.
