Suzhou Creek (苏州河, or Soochow Creek), aka Wusong River, is a river that passes through the Shanghai city center. It is named after the neighboring city of Suzhou (Soochow). One of the principal outlets of Lake Tai, the Suzhou Creek is 125km long and flows into the Huangpu River at the Bund. The Suzhou Creek Waterfront Public Space (苏州河滨水公共空间) project was basically completed by the end of 2020. After renovation, the 42km shoreline along the Suzhou Creek in the central urban area has been opened to the public, providing space for public activities such as sightseeing, cultural communication, sports and fitness, leisure and entertainment.
Confucius (孔子, 551–479 BC) was a Chinese philosopher, educator, and founder of Confucianism. As an innovative educator, Confucius established private schools, promoting the idea of junzi (noble character) and education for all, attracting over 3,000 disciples, including 72 distinguished scholars. He also compiled and revised The Six Classics, laying the foundation for Chinese cultural heritage. After his death, his disciples compiled The Analects, preserving his teachings. Confucianism profoundly influenced Chinese society, shaping ethical norms, education, and governance for millennia.
