This cache is located at the river monitoring tower. This structure gathers lots of important data like water level, sediment, oxygen, turbidity, and temperature etc to help monitor the river’s health. In 2013, Horizons Regional Council upgraded the river monitoring tower. They raised the tower by about 900mm to match the new stopbanks that were built for flood protection and reinforced it to meet current earthquake standards. those changes ensured the station stays funtional during major floods and keeps the community and council informed.
