Geocache Description:

"Newbie Series #2: Shattuck Park" is the second of a series aimed to introduce new cachers to the types of containers and spots used in this fun hobby.  This cache is a short walk from "Newbie Series #1:  Shattuck Park."    Experienced cachers, READ NO FURTHER  if you don't want explicit spoilers, and do not look at the pictures or hint which will give it away!

In December 1924, Ms. Emma Morrill Shattuck offered these undeveloped wooded lots to the Town of Norwood.  To date, the area remains open space with trails criss-crossing mixed woods.  This small park serves as a green oasis for the surrounding neighborhood.  Park on any of the surrounding side streets.   If you're doing the first in the series, Bellevue Street is a good place to park.

This cache is a bison tube, another common cache container.  Google "bison tube" for pictures.  It is maybe 2" long, and attached to a rhododendron limb with a carbiner.  It's approximately waist high, and a foot or two into the bush.  You have to go off the main path a bit, but there's no way you can miss the stand of rhododendrons at one end of the park.  Most cache descriptions will tell you if "bushwhacking," or going off the main path is required, and if so about how far.   Try to find the cache with the information provided so far, and if stuck, the hint and pictures will pretty much give it away.

Sign and date the log, and here's a tip about reassembling the tube.   If you wind the log up tightly, place the rolled log into the LID, and then attach the lid to the bottom of the tube.  That is more efficient and helps the log to last longer.  BYOP: Bring your own pen.

Happy caching!
