The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail wanders along winding scenic roads and rolling hills on the Western side of the Shawnee National Forest. It will bring you to unique small towns, outdoor adventures among sandstone bluffs, and surprising history. Shawnee Hills is the only Federally designated wine grape growing region in Illinois because of how it's special soil and climate affect the grapes.
The vines here were established in the 1980s and their first wines were made only for family and friends. Wines from these grapes were not released to the public until 2001. The winery became part of the wine trail in 2008 and remained with the family until 2017. At that time the new family took over the old vines and winery located on one of Southern Illinois' highest ridgetops deep in the heart of the Shawnee Hills.
This vineyard and winery remains a family owned and family friendly place welcoming fur babies on a leash.
