The Ventura Harbor Wetlands Ecological Reserve, open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., is a popular spot for local birdwatchers. It offers up-close views of multiple bird species in a scenic setting with flat, well-defined trails. The VHWER series could give it equal standing for geocachers, as it offers all that plus a chance to find five different types of geocaching icons in a one-mile counter-clockwise loop. With three nearby Earthcaches, a six-icon day is well within reach.
