Geocache Description:

The Wizarding World Geocache Series

"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their own small communities within a community."

— The secrecy surrounding the wizarding world

The Wizarding World, also referred to as the magical community, is the society in which wizards and witches live and interact, separate from non-wizarding society. The two communities are kept separate through the use of charms, spells, and secrecy. Wizards and witches are forbidden to reveal anything about magic to Muggle society due to the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, but that does not mean that the two worlds live entirely apart.

Welcome to London

I start bleeding like mad every time they try,...It seems there was some rather unusual kind of poison in that snake's fangs that keeps wounds open. They're sure they'll find an antidote, though; they say they've had much worse cases than mine…

— Arthur Weasley

St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies is a wizarding hospital in London that specializes in treating magical illnesses and injuries. The hospital is hidden from Muggles inside what appears to be a large, condemned department store named "Purge and Dowse Ltd.," with signs in the window stating "Closed for Refurbishment". The hospital's emblem is a crossed wand and bone, and it is organized into different floors based on the type of injury or malady.

  • Ground Floor: Reception and Artifact Accidents, which treats injuries from enchanted objects like cauldron explosions and broom crashes.
  • First Floor: Creature-Induced Injuries, such as those from werewolf bites or Chimera attacks.
  • Second Floor: Magical Bugs, for dealing with infectious diseases like Dragon Pox and Vanishing Sickness.
  • Third Floor: Potion and Plant Poisoning.
  • Fourth Floor: Spell Damage, for handling the effects of curses and other magical attacks. This floor includes the "Janus Thickey Ward," a long-term ward for patients with permanent spell-inflicted mental damage.
