Geocache Description:

The given coordinates will lead you to a cadastral monument.  This will be a disk, often called a "brass cap", that has been placed by the Bureau of Land Management.  The Bureau of Land Management is the U.S. governmental agency that has the responsibility for locating and monumenting cadastral monuments on Federal Lands.

Cadastral monuments may look like Bench Marks, but they are something completely different.  Cadastral monuments are used to denote land ownership, and will often be stamped with the Township, Range, Secton, and 1/4 of 1/4 section.  Bench Marks are part of the National Geodetic Survey, and are used to measure the shape of the earth, (specifically, vertical elevation).

--------------

This monument has two numbers on it that you will need to use in order to find the cache, the 3-digit number after the dollar sign ($), and the 4-digit number that is the year.  Use the following to find the cache:

For the North coordinate, add the 3-digit number to the last 3 digits of the given North coordinates, subtract 250, and that is your new North coordinate.

For the West coordinate, subtract the 4-digit number from the last 4 digits of the given West coordinates, add 1955, and that is your new West coordinate.
