Geocache Description:

I have passed this old unmarked cemetery just outside of Merriam, Indiana and have always said that I really need to stop and walk the grounds to look at all of the gravestones and place a geocache. I decided to do that this morning and could not believe how old the gravesites were! Take a look around at how old they are after finding the cache that I have hidden! I did some research and it appears as though most of the deceased passed in the 1800s and there really haven't been any additions in the last 100 years. When I went to create this page, I found out the cemetery is NOT unnamed and is called Standford Cemetery according to the geocaching map but also known as Sanford Cemetery according to my research. You'll notice this cemetery does not have any signage telling you whether it's Standford or Sanford but I'm going to bet it's actually Sanford considering there is a small lake very close that is named Sanford Lake. Unfortunately, this cemetery does have quite a few gravestones that have toppled over, so watch your step as you walk around.

Be careful when parking here and just pull off the side of the road. There is plenty of places to pull off, but please be careful when pulling off the side of the road or pulling back out onto the road.. No geocaching from dawn-to-dusk. Please make sure to sign the log as all unsigned finds will be removed. Also, NO THROWDOWNS! If you can't find the cache or find the cache is bad condition, please leave a note and I will go and do maintenance on the cache.
