For many people, St. Patrick's Day is about wearing green and partying. This day actually celebrates a man from the fifth century. Patrick was kidnapped, lived as a slave in Ireland, escaped, and returned home to Britain. Later as a Catholic bishop, he was sent to evangelize the people of Ireland. He used the shamrock to illustrate the mystery of the Blessed Trinity.
