Friday 1st August
09:30am – 12:30
Come join us for a full on mulching session!
Horsbere Brook Nature Reserve has seen us plant 3 separate woodlands, an Orchard and reintroduce hedges.
The trees need a lot of care to make sure they continue to grow,
and this is where your help comes in.
We have lovely piles of mulch and every tree would love some! The mulch suppresses any weeds that could be in competition with the tree for nutrients. It also locks in moisture to make sure that the tree has plenty of water.
Whilst we do have plenty of mulch – we may not have enough containers for everyone. Please bring with you something that will help move the mulch – whether it's a washing up bowl or an old pot or bucket please do bring it along. Please don't bring plastic bags.
Of course you don't need to attend for the entire 3 hours, drop in and do what you can.
For those that have limited mobility you will need help in grabbing and disseminating the mulch – but there are trees planted along the track to form a hedge, which will also need mulch.
Unfortunately the track has been quite rutted in recent years due to heavy machinery using it as a main thoroughfare, which does make access difficult and bumpy!
