We see these in most every town, most older ones are of the style that you see here. Tank on top of 4 legs similar to the ones that started with steam locomotive in the early days of railroad. Other, more modern towers look like mushrooms in the sky. All have the same porpoise. Low volume water pumped up to the storage tank, and gravity force provides the pressure for distribution to the residential supply system. Some of the older towers around the country are no longer used due to age and cost of upkeep.
