Rotaty Park in Dunedin was developed by the local Rotary club (now Rotary Dunedin) in the early 1950's to celebrate 50 years of Rotary International. The park is located above the steep slopes which drop down to the harbour below, near The Cove. From various parts of the park you can obtain views along and across the harbour from the central city to Port Chalmers, as well as down the south coast.
The park has plenty of open areas, two juniour soccer fields as well as a coulpe of areas of large introduced trees.
Recently, Rotary Dunedin has added new plantings and apparently new tracks and may undertake furthur developments in the next few years such as viewing platforms, shelters and seating. The DCC current plan is to add two new blocks of toilets to the existing city ones so hopefully this park is somewhere on the list to do.
