Camille Claudel was born on December 8, 1864, in Fère-en-Tardenois, France. A talented sculptor, she is best known for her expressive works and her influence on modern art, as well as her tumultuous relationship with the famous sculptor Auguste Rodin.
From a young age, Camille showed exceptional talent for sculpture. Encouraged by her family, she moved to Paris in 1881 to study at the Académie Colarossi, one of the few art schools open to women at the time. It was there that she met Rodin in 1883, becoming his student, muse, and collaborator.

Their relationship, both professional and personal, was intense and complex. Camille worked on some of Rodin's most famous pieces while developing her own distinctive style. However, their relationship deteriorated, and Camille separated from Rodin in 1898.
Despite her immense talent, Camille struggled to gain the recognition she deserved. Her works, such as "The Waltz" and "The Mature Age," are praised for their raw emotion and technical mastery. However, she suffered from mental health issues and was institutionalized in 1913, where she spent the last 30 years of her life.

Camille Claudel passed away on October 19, 1943, in Montdevergues, leaving behind an artistic legacy that continues to inspire and fascinate.
