The Museum of Transport and Technology also known as MOTAT was opened in 1964. It is is spread across two locations with a tram service to connect the two sites. The museum focuses on preserving and showcasing the history of transport, technology, and communications in New Zealand. MOTAT houses a wide range of exhibits, including historical aircraft, trains, trams, automobiles and a science and technology centre.
