After the great sucess in the last two times we again are joining the Croke Place Wetlands Landcare Group in Evatt, a community group who tries to improve native biodiversity around Ginninderra Creek and operates in the area downstreat of the spillway. (more information can be found on their facebook site)
You will se a big change from last time when you come again, not just in the place we did but also across the river.
We will meet at 10:00am for some instructions at the meeting point coords next to parking.
The main project for the CITO this time is to help clear the remaining weed saplings along the path and cutting the ivy that grows up the trees. There is a waypoint in the listing where we plan on doing the bulk of this work (you could come straight there if you are late). This work was choosen as lots of helpful hands are needed and the instructions are simple. "cut the saplings low and leave them on the side of the path to be collected by the council and cut the cut the ivy low on the tree and leave it to die off"
Please wear sturdy shoes and bring some gardening gloves. A bow saw will be helpful to bring along, but tools will also be avaialbe at the event. From last time we know that electric saw tools worked quite well for the cutting.
The schedlue for the CITO is as follows:
10:0am meet at meeting coordinates (next to parking) for 5-10 minutes of instructions before moving down to the working area (work at posted coordinates) - Parking next to meeting coords
10:10am - 11:00pm THIS PART IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BEFORE THE EVENT [removing samplings in the working area (posted coordinates) and leaving them next to the bike path as well as cutting the ivy low on the trees (and others things we are instructed to do if a big turnout). ]
11:15pm - 11:45pm optional joining for morning tea back at the meeting coordinates (contributions welcome). I will try and make this a separate event as a reword for the hard work.
Please log your "will attend" so we can let the group know how many helpers to expect.
And yes, if you don't already have it, attending this event will earn you a 2025 Season I CITO souviner!
