Geocache Description:

The Event

Today is National Beatles Appreciation Day and to celebrate we are holding an event at Rui’s Coffee Lounge, 53 Nutfield Road, South Merstham, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 3EN on Wednesday the 25th June 2025 between 6 and 7pm.

You will be able to listen to a selection of their music, participate and win a prize in a Beatles themed trivia quiz and fancy dress contest, and finally be part of our Beatles themed album cover group photo (please note that you do not need to participate in any of these activities to attend this event).

Please note that this is an outdoor/indoor event under the gazebo, there will be an event log to sign and a container for TBs, however, unfortunately due to the event's location it is unsuitable for large trackables, (anything that will not fit into a small coat pocket)!

Finally, there will be a celebratory cake to enjoy, so to ensure there is enough for everyone please log your "will attend" in the normal way by Friday 20th June 2025 (after that date you can still attend but might miss out on a slice of cake 😉).

So why not pop down to Rui's Coffee Lounge, and help us celebrate in style 🎉

The history of this celebration

National Beatles Appreciation Day, Global Beatles Day or World Beatles Day, is celebrated annually on the 25th June to honour The Beatles and their lasting impact on music and culture. The date, 25 June, was chosen to commemorate the date that the Beatles participated in the BBC show Our World in 1967, performing "All You Need Is Love". The broadcast was the world’s first live multi-national multi-satellite television production broadcast to an international audience estimated at between 400 and 700 million people (the largest television audience up to that date).

The history of the League of Extraordinary Celebrations (LEC)

We are a very special part of the League of Extraordinary Cachers (LEC), and came into existence following a brilliant suggestion from Sterling-Cache. For those that don’t know the LEC are a friendly and enthusiastic caching group, who want to meet as many geocachers as possible to share experiences, swap stories, exchange trackables and encourage geocaching, whilst having lots and lots of fun. If you want to know more about the group please contact terrapintim 🐢
