Geocache Description:

This geocache is intended to be extremely easy to find, accessible year-round, and a good one for getting started with Geocaching. It's placed on private property with the property owner's approval.

Intro to Geocaching

Welcome new Geocachers! I have hidden a container filled with "TREASURE" and dare you to find it.

Before you get started, make sure you have the following:

  • The Geocache description, including the size, previous logs, and hints.
  • A map of the location.
  • A GPS unit, fully charged or with spare batteries.
  • Enough supplies (water, snacks, rain gear) in case you stay out longer than expected.
  • Geocaching stuff, like a pencil and trinkets to trade.
  • Knowledge of how to get out of the area in case your batteries die.
  • Someone who knows where you are going and when you will be back who will ensure you made it back home safely.

Once you get to near the location, put the GPS down. Even if you get the distance to say 0, you could still be several feet away from the correct location. Your best bet is to look for paths from previous Geocachers or hiding locations within 20 feet of where the GPS takes you. Be patient and search every nook and cranny. Geocachers are sometimes devious, however this one is really easy.

Map of Geocache Location

You are likely able to find this Geocache using only the map. A GPS really isn't required for this one, but it would be a good way to start practicing for future Geocaches.

GPS

Geocaching typically needs a GPS. You can get a dedicated unit, but if you are starting out then an app on your phone is typically good enough. Search your phone's app store for "Geocaching" and you'll find the official app and possibly a couple others. If you'd prefer to not install an app, Be Prepared is a web-based app that can point you in the right direction. Click here or scan the below code, grant permissions to use the GPS and compass, then press the button with a triangle in a circle to navigate to the location.

After The Find

  1. Sign your name in the log and you can add extra information if you desire. Describe the day, add a joke, or write a poem if you'd like.
  2. You're welcome to trade for an item. However, because this is an introductory Geocache, everyone that finds the container can just take an item if they have nothing to trade. It's my gift to you.
  3. You can begin tracking your finds at www.geocaching.com by creating a free account and logging a find for GCB4PXF (that's the code for this Geocache).

Need a Hint?

Hints are available for most Geocaches. When viewing the web page, you can decode the hint with a simple click. The encoding method is a simple ROT13 cipher, which means "A" becomes "N", and "N" becomes "A". "Grfg" decodes into "Test".

If you're having difficulty with the words, and want to eliminate all guesswork for where the Geocache should be, try clicking on this image.
