Voluta da Napoleone in occasione dell’ampliamento delle fortificazioni, questa è una delle tre caserme di Palmanova seminterrate nei baluardi. Dopo la prima Guerra Mondiale, venne dedicata all’irredentista Fabio Filzi. Si trova nel più ampio complesso dell’ex Caserma Ederle e sulla sua facciata campeggia la scritta “Soit à pied soit à cheval mon honneur est sans ègal” (il mio onore non ha eguali né a piedi né a cavallo). È conosciuta per aver ospitato tra il 1947 e il 1992, il Comando del “Reggimento Genova” (4°): il più antico Reggimento della Cavalleria Italiana, discendente dai Dragons Bleu istituiti a Torino nel 1683 dal Duca Vittorio Amedeo II di Savoia. Alla sinistra della Caserma si può salire la scalinata che porta alla sommità del baluardo e a un belvedere da cui si ammira un suggestivo panorama delle fortificazioni.

Wanted by Napoleon on the occasion of the expansion of the fortifications, this is one of the three barracks in Palmanova placed in the bulwarks’ basement.
After the First World War, it was commonly dedicated to the irredentist Fabio Filzi. It is located in the larger complex of the former Ederle Barracks and on it’s façade stands the inscription “Soit à pied soit à cheal mon honneur est sans ègal” (my honor is unequaled either on foot or on horseback). It is known for having hosted, between 1947 and 1992, the Command of Genoa Regiment (4th): the oldest Regiment of Italian Chivalry, descendent from the Dragons Bleu, established in Turin by the Duke Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoia in 1683.
On the left of the Barracks you can climb the stairs that lead to the top of the rampart and to a viewpoint from which you can admire a beautiful panorama of fortifications.
