Geocache Description:

Meet at the Lloyd Watson Community Centre at 1:00 pm

Tupper will be on board to greet you as you meet up with other pirates for an opportuniity to swap tall tales and wet your whistle. Then join us for an optional fun afternoon of adventures on the high seas.

Back in 1825

The Pusey Lake Pirates were a band of cut-throat braggarts who left the high seas to sail the calmer waters of Pusey Lake. (the lake has since been renamed Dark Lake, Thank Goodness someone was thinking)

skull with pirate hatLegend has it that the Pusey Lake Pirates pillaged and plundered from one end of Pusey Lake to the other amassing gold and riches from the local inhabitants and raiding Bertha Webber’s vegetable garden, from which she chased them off with a broom.

No records remain to explain the demise of the Pusey Lake Pirates but Bertha’s broken broom handle may be a clue.

Forward to 2025

Reconstruction of the bridge spanning the water course between Grace River and Dark Lake (formerly known as Pusey Lake) has revealed the discovery of a leather-bound pirate’s chest.  Documents inside the chest seem to refer to multiple locations of hidden booty.

The Dilemma

DNA testing has revealed that, while 85% of the town’s residents have pirate blood coursing through their veins, none of the cut-throat mentality and very few navigational skills were passed down through the generations to these folks. In other words, they couldn’t find a pickle in a pickle jar.

You, on the other hand, a well honed GEOCACHER could easily find the Pusey Lake Pirates hidden booty.

So, if you can trace your genealogy to the Pusey Lake Pirates…simply suspect you may be a descendant…OR just wanna’be related, sign up to search for your ancestor’s booty.  Your “home town kin” would appreciate your expertise and gladly split the bounty with you.

ship  YES, IT’S A TREASURE HUNT and what Geocacher can resist hunting for treasure.
