[RO] Câlnic (Kelling în germană, Kelnek în maghiară) este un sat care a fost menţionat prima dată în 1269 cu numele Kelnuk. În localitate au trăit prima dată de secui, apoi regele a adus în locul lor saşi.
Ansamblul bisericii romanice şi a cetăţii din faţă s-a păstrat destul de bine şi datorită acestui lucru în 1999 a fost înscris în Lista Patrimoniului Mondial UNESCO.
Cetatea Câlnic a fost construită de către comitele Chyl de Kelling, în a doua jumătate a secolului al XIII-lea. Donjonul (Turnul Siegfried), capela şi fântâna au fost înconjurate de ziduri cu turnuri de apărare. În secolul XV cetatea ajunge în proprietatea comunităţii, care dublează zidurile şi înalţă turnul central.
În spatele cetăţii se găseşte casa parohială evanghelică, apoi biserica înconjurată de cimitir. Biserica din deal provine tot din secolul XIII, dar a suferit două mari modificări în secolele următoare.

[EN] Calnic (Kelling in German, Kelnek in Hungarian) is a village that was first mentioned in 1269 with the name Kelnuk. The Szeklers first lived in the village, then the king brought Saxons in their place.
The Romanesque church and the fortress in front of it have been preserved quite well and due to this in 1999 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Fortress was built by the nobleman Chyl de Kelling in the second half of the 13th century. The keep (Siegfried Tower), the chapel and the fountain were surrounded by walls with defensive towers. In the 15th century the fortress became the property of the community, which doubled the walls and raised the central tower.
After the fortress there is the evangelical parish house, then the church surrounded by the cemetery. The church on the hill also dates from the 13th century, but underwent two major changes in the following centuries.
