Il cimitero austro-ungarico di Palmanova è uno dei più grandi e importanti luoghi di sepoltura militare del Friuli-Venezia Giulia e custodisce le spoglie di oltre 19.000 soldati caduti durante il Primo Conflitto Mondiale.
Il sepolcreto è composto da un ampio viale di cipressi che attraversa il prato in cui riposano i 4.000 soldati di cui se ne conoscono le identità. Queste tombe, semplici e ordinate, sono caratterizzate da spoglie lapidi in cemento che riportano i nomi dei defunti.
In fondo al viale, invece, sono collocate la cappella e le due grandi fosse comuni in cui sono stati tumulati gli oltre 15.000 corpi di combattenti senza nome.
La cache è di dimensioni nano e all'interno troverete solamente il logbook. Portatevi una penna e buona caccia!
The Austro-Hungarian Cemetery in Palmanova is one of the biggest and most important military sites in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and holds the remains of over 19,000 soldiers captured during the First World War. The burial ground is composed of a wide road with cypresses that cross the lawn where the 4,000 soldiers – whose identity is known – rest. These tombs, simple and tidy, are characterized by bare tombstones that show the names of the fallen. In addition, at the end of the street we find a chapel and two large mass graves in which more than 15,000 bodies of unnamed soldiers were buried.
