Geocache Description:

The route of Israel National Trail was revised in the center, between Yarkon and Shoham.

There have been many changes to the trail over the years. This new revision is mainly due to the construction of the east-railroad and stations ("waiting for the east-rail-train?"). And the trail was transferred west of highway 6 (instead of going near Elad, Mazor mausuleum, Kule Forest and down to Shoham).

After aou121516 informed me of this fresh new section of the trail, i wanted to be one of the first to try it out, and of course hide few caches on the way.

Note

This cache was hidden as part of the Israel National Trail Multi Cache - GCA7KQ2. At the top of the logsheet you should find the value for D2.

In case cache is gone take a photo of gz and let me know.

So now there is another option to find D2. This one is a physical cache. The original D1-D4 clues should still be available, but now officially the trail passes here, plus i suspect in the future it will not be possible to walk continuously from Elad south to Shoham.

Safely note -

you are not supposed to cross the railway tracks. i passed over them on a bridge north of mazor.
if you walk the israel national trail from either north or south, you don't cross the tracks.

Eventually the train will pass here, and then it will be dangerous of course, if they don't add fences.

About the new trail section - Yarkon to Shoham

Walking from road 483 south of Yarkon National Park, it is a nice walk between fields towards Kfar Sirkin, and along nahal Shilo (its crossing could be muddy after rain). The trail enters Kfar Sirkin village (part of Petah Tikva today), then exits and crosses under road 471 near works. Here the trail disappear in more wheat fields and tall weeds (in March at least) - maybe in the summer it is clearer, but sometimes there was hardly any trail to walk on. Then the trail crosses a bridge over the rails and goes through interesting orchards of peaches (starting to flower in the spring) and other trees behind the moshavim. Once it takes a turn towards highway 6, we are back in nature, with woodland setting. It continues through rolling low hills which are the first ridge of Judean Hills, including a couple of great viewpoints over the coastal plains. South of road 4613 is Bareket Forest, and from there into the city of Shoham itself, towards Shoham Forest and back to the old route.

About This cache -

It was hidden near an olive grove, off an agricultural road near moshav Mazor. You can find the peach trees a little north, and also other trees which i could not identify.
