Palmanova, realizzata a forma di stella, venne concepita come una vera e propria macchina da guerra per esigenze di natura militare e difensiva. Il numero e le dimensioni dei suoi bastioni furono infatti stabiliti in base alla gittata dei cannoni del tempo. Passeggiare nel Parco dei Bastioni permette di osservare la geometria perfetta delle strutture difensive e scoprire le gallerie che consentivano alle milizie di spostarsi o di difendere la fortezza.
I Bastioni della Città Fortezza offrono passeggiate adatte a famiglie e amanti dello sport. Immersi nella natura e nella storia, sarà possibile fare un bel percorso lungo l'anello delle fortificazioni, tra le cinte murarie, tra cascatelle, gallerie e cunicoli, baluardi e spianate. Attorno alle mura, è possibile scoprire l‘ecosistema naturale del Parco Storico dei bastioni, ripercorre le vicende militari della città, camminare tra le fortificazioni, ammirando Baluardi, Rivellini e Lunette, il fossato, le gallerie e le tre Porte Monumentali.
Questo giro è pensato per farvi vedere i vari dettagli del percorso con una cache dedicata ad ognuno di esso, non dimenticatevi di segnare il numero all'interno del logbook per la cache bonus!
PORTA CIVIDALE
Porta Cividale, edificata tra il 1604 e il 1605 sotto il Generalato di Nicolò Dolfin, è uno dei tre ingressi alla fortezza di Palmanova. Essa presenta una facciata monumentale e austera, priva di decorazioni ma rivestita di pietra bianca e grigia lavorata a bugnato rustico. Ha un aspetto severo con le sue torri di guardia collegate da una balaustra. Nella parte più alta della Porta, il Dongione, trova sede il Museo della Grande Guerra e della Fortezza di Palmanova, dove sono custoditi documenti, armi, uniformi e cimeli la cui storia copre tutto il periodo di vita della città, dalla sua fondazione, nel 1593, ai giorni nostri. Qui sono infatti conservati più di 400 anni di storia degli eserciti che hanno vissuto e operato all’interno della città-fortezza.
La cache è di dimensioni "altro" e all'interno troverete solamente il logbook. Portatevi una penna e buona caccia!
Palmanova, built in the shape of a star, was conceived as a real war machine for military and defensive needs. The number and size of its bastions were in fact established based on the range of the cannons of the time. Walking in the Bastion Park allows you to observe the perfect geometry of the defensive structures and discover the tunnels that allowed the militias to move or defend the fortress. The Bastions of the Fortress City offer walks suitable for families and sports lovers. Immersed in nature and history, it will be possible to take a beautiful route along the ring of fortifications, between the walls, among waterfalls, tunnels and passages, bastions and esplanades. Around the walls, it is possible to discover the natural ecosystem of the Bastion Historic Park, retrace the military events of the city, walk among the fortifications, admiring Baluardi, Rivellini and Lunette, moat, tunnels and the three Monumental Gates.

CIVIDALE GATE
Cividale Gate, built between 1604 and 1605 under Nicolò Dolfin, is one of the three accesses to the fortress of Palmanova.
It has a monumental and austere facade, without decorations but covered with ashlar worked in white and gray stone. It has a severe appearance with its watchtowers connected by a balustrade.
In the highest part of the Gate, called “Dongione”, there is the Museum of the Great War and the Fortress of Palmanova. They hold documents, weapons, uniforms and memorabilia whose history covers the entire period of city life, from its foundation in 1593 to the present day. In fact, over 400 years of history of the troops who lived and worked in the fortress city are preserved here.
The cache is "other" in dimension and inside you'll find only the logbook. Bring your own pen and happy caching!
