Palmanova, realizzata a forma di stella, venne concepita come una vera e propria macchina da guerra per esigenze di natura militare e difensiva. Il numero e le dimensioni dei suoi bastioni furono infatti stabiliti in base alla gittata dei cannoni del tempo. Passeggiare nel Parco dei Bastioni permette di osservare la geometria perfetta delle strutture difensive e scoprire le gallerie che consentivano alle milizie di spostarsi o di difendere la fortezza.
I Bastioni della Città Fortezza offrono passeggiate adatte a famiglie e amanti dello sport. Immersi nella natura e nella storia, sarà possibile fare un bel percorso lungo l'anello delle fortificazioni, tra le cinte murarie, tra cascatelle, gallerie e cunicoli, baluardi e spianate. Attorno alle mura, è possibile scoprire l‘ecosistema naturale del Parco Storico dei bastioni, ripercorre le vicende militari della città, camminare tra le fortificazioni, ammirando Baluardi, Rivellini e Lunette, il fossato, le gallerie e le tre Porte Monumentali.
Questo giro è pensato per farvi vedere i vari dettagli del percorso con una cache dedicata ad ognuno di esso, non dimenticatevi di segnare il numero all'interno del logbook per la cache bonus!
BALUARDI CON LOGGIA DI SORTITA
Il baluardo o bastione è un terrapieno dalla forma a punta di freccia che dà origine alla prima delle tre cinte murarie formando l’inconfondibile stella a nove punte.
Il terrapieno è costituito da un’incamiciatura alta circa sette metri, realizzata con grosse pietre e mattoni. Su questo muro è visibile, ancora oggi, un cordolo in pietra corrispondente al livello del terreno prima dello scavo del Fossato.
Agli angoli del baluardo, denominati “orecchioni”, erano presenti due logge per i soldati. Quella collocata sul lato sinistro era dotata di una rampa di sortita che portava direttamente all’esterno delle fortificazioni. Quella di destra, invece, veniva utilizzata dalle truppe come posto di guardia e di ricovero ed era dotata, al suo interno, di un caminetto e di diverse nicchie per l’illuminazione
La cache è di dimensioni micro e all'interno troverete solamente il logbook. Portatevi una penna e buona caccia!
Palmanova, built in the shape of a star, was conceived as a real war machine for military and defensive needs. The number and size of its bastions were in fact established based on the range of the cannons of the time. Walking in the Bastion Park allows you to observe the perfect geometry of the defensive structures and discover the tunnels that allowed the militias to move or defend the fortress. The Bastions of the Fortress City offer walks suitable for families and sports lovers. Immersed in nature and history, it will be possible to take a beautiful route along the ring of fortifications, between the walls, among waterfalls, tunnels and passages, bastions and esplanades. Around the walls, it is possible to discover the natural ecosystem of the Bastion Historic Park, retrace the military events of the city, walk among the fortifications, admiring Baluardi, Rivellini and Lunette, moat, tunnels and the three Monumental Gates.

BULWARK WITH SORTIE LODGE
The bulwark or bastion is a wide arrow-shaped enclosed in a stone or a brick wall that forms the first of the three sets of walls with its unique nine-pointed star structure. The bank is up to seven meters high. On this wall you can see, even today, a stone curb that marks the level of the ground before the excavation of the ditch. On the corners of the bastion, called “ears”, there were two lodges for soldiers. The one on the left side was equipped with a sortie ramp that led directly out of the fortress while the one on the right was used by the troops as a place of guard and shelter and was equipped, inside, with a fireplace and several niches for lighting.
The cache is micro in dimension and inside you'll find only the logbook. Bring your own pen and happy caching!
