St. Croix Crossing PWA opened in Spring 2025 as the final environmental mitigation project for the overall St. Croix Crossing bridge project. The boat launch was originally scheduled to open in 2019 at a cost of $1.2 million (of the $693 million overall project).
Enjoy this short, simple multi-cache.
The posted coordinates will show you the entry to the PWA. (nothing else there)
In order to find the final coordinates, which are at N45 02.ABC W92 47.XYZ, do the following:
Go to the Boat Launch Waypoint and determine:
A = The number of lanes for launching into the river divided by 2.
B = The number of structural cables* running from the bridge deck through the column. (Look straight up)
CD = The number of concrete bridge columns in the water. (Due to varying water levels, count the columns with bathtub rings.)
Go to the Sign and Parking Area Waypoint and determine:
X = The total number of handicap parking spots (single-vehicle + vehicle/trailer spots).
Y= The number of Water Access Rules on the sign.
Z = The number of No Fee, Trailer Access Landings on the Minnesota side on the map on the sign.
Checksum A + B + C + X + Y + Z = 26
*Bridge Trivia: Each of those "cables" is actually a sheath containing 76 strands.
