First there was "The Chair" by Mr Sparks, then there was a daft
BBC quiz show hosted by John McEnroe (which only Carwash watched?),
then ...... The Chair III by Carwash which was hidden in a hole in
a rock where they looked when searching for the original before it
was muggled. A new concept in geocaching, this is cache plagiarism
taken to the extreme as now, The Chair IV has arrived!
We did The Chair III a couple of months before it was muggled
and thoroughly enjoyed it. When we saw it had was gone we decided
to try to adopt it. Thanks Carwash.
It then got muggled again in 2011 so was replaced at a new nearby
location so became Chair V!
The cache is located at Harboro Rocks, a high (1250ft) craggy
limestone outcrop near Carsington Reservoir between Wirksworth and
Brassington, from where, on a clear day there are some excellent
views.
You can park at N53*05.412 W001*38.296 then walk past the works
and over the cycle track, or of course you could approach by the
track.
The title refers to a large stone N53*05.653 W001*38.327 which
has been "carved?" into the shape of an armchair. Unfortunately the
chair itself was vandalised during 2005…still looks like a
chair though….just!
Harboro Hideout has been placed in this area recently and as
such is another one you could do whilst enjoying the area.
