Geocache Description:

NOTE: ONLY AVAILABLE when the attraction is open (9am to 5pm)

Closed: Christmas Day - check website for up to date information

Welcome to "Gretna Green" situated just over the border of England in Scotland (minutes from the M6, M74 and A75).   This venue has been the original home of romance and a picturesque haven for "eloping young" couples since 1754.  They have found the power of the Old Smithy marriage "anvil" ... bonding two hearts and lives together for eternity where love conquers all at the (Famous) Blacksmith Shop.

The cache IS NOT at the listed posted co-ordinates which leads you into the Courtyship Maze - a maze with a difference and great fun for all ages built from stone, symbolising a giant pair of interlocking wedding rings ... for romantics, for families and for geocaches!  Chose your entrance which is the first of many decisions, twists and turns that will lead either to dead ends or to the goal of discovering and finding the hidden cache.  On your journey admire the romantic features you come across and inspirational messages.  Don't cheat ... please keep to the paths and don't force through hedges.

Gretna Greens maze is covered in love locks / padlocks which started appearing in May 2015, embracing the love-filled tradition.  Love locks date back at least 100 years, with different folklore and legends to their actual origination BUT they have become a worldwide tradition.  Couples lock the padlock at a beautiful location or somwhere considered auspicious or lucky, e.g. to a: bridge, fence, gate, railings, lamp post, monument or similar public fixture to symbolise locking their everlasting and unbreakable love and commitment together, where no power on heaven or earth will ever sever their romantic bond. Typically the sweethearts names or initials and a date are inscribed on the padlock, and if there's a key it is thrown away - often into a nearby river.  Nowadays most love looks are keyless and self locking.

You are looking for a a love lock which has engraved on the back the Cache GC code and numbers for A, B, C, D, E and F.

The final cache is a small walk away and can be found using the following:

N 055° 00.ABC

W 003° 03.DEF

Note: A pen is an essential TOTT to sign the log paper.  Don't forget it!

When you find the final cache there is an unique tracking code which is a very special trackable, which was gifted to mini_me_1 (my daughter Charlotte) from a local geocaching all time legend. Feel free to discover it and put a special message, story, photograph, etc.  The more amusing, interneresting and imaginative the better.       https://www.geocaching.com/track/

Please NO spoiler photos of the exact location or what the lock looks like or they will be deleted.
As time 🕰️ passes by we are expecting the difficulty rating of this cache to increase as more love locks arrive.

Happy Geocaching Hunting smiley
