Join the 22nd Annual Geocaching Camping Event with the Lacy Family!.

The Lacy Family warmly invites you to the 22nd annual geocaching adventure! This year, we’re gathering at the beautiful Pioneer Campground in Red Top Mountain State Park, nestled on Lake Allatoona near Acworth, GA. With a covered picnic shelter and a campfire ring, it’s the perfect spot for a weekend filled with outdoor fun, GPS games, and great company. Then spend a night or two if you want.

Event Details;

  • Date: Saturday, September 27, 2025
  • Time: 10:00 AM until dark (or overnight, if you’re staying)
  • Location: Pioneer Campground, Red Top Mountain State Park, GA

As always, the event will be held rain or shine—though we’ll make an exception for hurricanes!

Activities and Highlights:

  • Daytime Fun: Engage in GPS challenges, explore the scenic campground, or simply relax and socialize with fellow geocachers. 
  • GPS Game: Bubba says he has great game in mind, he calls it CAMPO, we are still wait for him to explain it to us.
  • Saturday Potluck Supper: Bring your favorite camp food to share and enjoy a cozy meal around the evening campfire. Share some laughs, tell a scary story or two, and maybe even spin a tall tale!
  • Optional Camping: For the adventurous, camp with us on Friday, Saturday, or both nights! Experience the great outdoors with campfire camaraderie and starry skies.

Additional Notes: All activities are optional, so feel free to join in as much or as little as you’d like. Whether you’re diving into GPS adventures or just stopping by to say hello, we’d love to see you. And don’t worry—civilization is close by if you forget anything! We can’t wait to spend this special weekend with you. Mark your calendars, pack your gear, and join us for a memorable geocaching adventure!

All activities are optional. You can take part in just one or two or any combination or all of them. If you just want to stop by socialize for awhile that is fine too.

  • 10:00 Welcome and Introductions
    Gather around for a warm welcome and to meet fellow campers.
  • 10:30 Instructions
    The instructions for the first part of this year’s game format and rules. Once briefed, you're free to begin the hunt and enjoy lunch at your own pace.
  • 2:30 Return to Campground
    Regroup and share stories from the field
  • 3:00 CAMPO Instructions and playing
    Dive into the CAMPO challenge, details and playtime begin here.
  • 5:00 PM Potluck supper
    Bring a dish, share a dish, and enjoy a hearty meal together

Agenda For Sunday Sep 28

  • Breakfast
    Casual breakfast, coffee, campfire chatter, and good company
  • Post-Breakfast – Camp Cleanup
    Let’s leave the site better than we found it. Team effort to tidy up
  • 1:00 PM – Final Check-Out
    Farewell hugs and handshakes. Safe travels until next time!

What to Bring:

  • Georgia State ParkPass. The cost of a daily pass is $5. Note overnight guests only need to buy one pass. A yearly pass is $50. Annual ParkPass discounts of 50% are available for seniors 62 and older, and 25% for active Georgia military and Georgia veterans. Also most Georiga Libraries will let you check out a ParkPass..
  • A sack lunch for Saturday.
  • Potluck contributions for Saturday night’s dinner.
  • Essentials for outdoor living. Water is available at the campground, but only pit toilets are provided.
  • Food for your group needs for the length of your stay
  • Paper plates, cook ware, etc.
  • Things to keep you warm in the Georgia fall weather
  • GPS
  • Camp chairs

Over nighters

  • Tent sleeping bags etc.
  • Bug spray for setting around camp fire
  • Camp lights, head lights or flashlight
  • Breakfast makings for Sunday morning if you’re staying overnight.

Remember the Saturday evening meal is pot luck, covered dish type for those that want to join in.
