3.0 refers to the terrain.  We've wanted to place a cache with a higher difficulty and/or terrain rating. We fell in love with this little lake and noticed there was no cache on this side of the lake.  The trail dwindles to almost nothing.  It has exposed rocks, boulders and tree roots to traverse.  We're giving it a difficulty of 2 and a terrain rating of 3. We'll watch the comments of more experienced cachers. If there is a consensus that the ratings need adjustments we'll edit our page, but it'll remain VupA 3.0.
