After years of exploring these forest trails, we've added geocaches to draw geocachers and off-road enthusiasts to this unique area. The caches are located along a mix of forest roads, jeep trails, and two-tracks, offering a diverse range of terrain. This is the last cache of this variety or the first if you are coming from the south. In each segment of the MYR run there has been that one that is totally different from the rest, this is that one. It is not like the rest and as long as your caching predecessors respect the cache it will be difficult or perhaps not.
Vehicle Advisory: A high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended, and in some areas, essential. The terrain features deep, soft "sugar sand" and potential water-filled sand bowls, demanding frequent 4x4 engagement. Unlocking sway bars may also be necessary. This section is distinct from other local trails, requiring a dedicated high-clearance 4x4 vehicle; standard passenger cars are not advised. Personal experience dictates that even with specialized tires, 4x4 and unlocked sway bars were required. Cell service is unreliable for most carriers.
Hiking Considerations: Hiking these trails offers a pleasant woodland experience, but prepare accordingly. Bring ample water and tick repellent. Be aware of local wildlife, including snakes, bears, hogs, and bobcats, and be prepared for dense thorns and saw palmetto. Hiking trails from other areas intersect this section.
